    The American Jewish Committee publication contains informative pages about religion and the public schools that explain the law regarding school prayer, proselytizing, teaching about religion, evolution, and other issues.

    Anti-Defamation League
    ADL has information about religion and the public schools that deals with issues such as prayer in schools, use of school facilities, religion in the curriculum, in a question and answer format and includes scenarios.

    Finding Common Ground
    First Amendment Center
    Finding Common Ground by Charles C. Haynes and Oliver Thomas is a First Amendment guide to religion and public education published by the First Amendment Center.

Holocaust and Genocide

    United States Holocaust Memorial Museum includes a large number of resources including guidelines for teaching about the Holocaust, historical summaries, lesson plans, online exhibitions, and searchable databases of photographs.

    Yad Vashem is Israel’s official memorial to the Holocaust. In addition to materials from its museum, the Yad VaShem website has digital archives, academic publications, and E-learning resources.

    Martin Gilbert Holocaust Maps depict the history of the Holocaust including mass murders, concentration camps, deportations, and more.

    A Teacher’s Guide to the Holocaust was produced by the Florida Center for Instructional Technology in the College of Education at the University of South Florida. It provides teacher resources and student activities.

    The Holocaust and Genocide: The Betrayal of Humanity is an extensive curriculum guide for grades 9-12 that was developed by the New Jersey Commission on Holocaust Education. It consists of 7 thematically organized units, each of which contains a variety of readings and student activities. The Commission’s curriculum pagehas part two of the guide as well as guides for other grade levels and guides that address` other genocides.

    Note: Local community Holocaust museums may also provide a wealth of information and opportunities for learning. Please contact ICS for advice on local resources.
